Kronos Launches New Mobile Experience for Workforce Ready

Kronos Workforce Ready Mobile

Kronos introduced what it called “an entirely reimagined mobile experience” for its Workforce Ready HCM cloud suite. The package provides access to workforce and management tools, as well as compliance enhancements to help organizations mitigate regulatory risk. For example, the app enables eligible employees to request and claim paid sick leave and includes safeguards to ensure they do not take more time than allowed.

Kronos Workforce Ready MobileDescriptions of the redesigned app seem solid enough: It features a responsive user interface that features configurable tiles that surface information most important to an individual’s role, the company said. For instance, users can set up their home screen to display their schedules, edit their timecards and review benefits election status. Managers and HR administrators can see alerts, exceptions and requests that require immediate attention.

Workforce Ready users can complete nearly any action—including benefits enrollment, scheduling, time-punching and the accessing of payroll and tax information—through a minimal number of taps, the company said.

For candidates, the new applicant portal is optimized for mobile devices, an obvious response to the increasing number of job seekers who pursuing new opportunities through smartphones and tablets. The app aims to help candidates more easily locate appropriate opening and speed the process of filling out application forms.

In Kronos’s press release Steve Goldberg, vice president and research director of Ventana Research, said the mobile app “offers the type of employee experience that maximizes both engagement and productivity,” two important drivers of high workforce and operational performance, according to his firm’s research.

It’s good to see Kronos keeping in step with other HCM tech leaders, not to mention the workforce, by paying close attention to its mobile experience on both sides of the table: simplifying self-service for employees while providing HR and managers with increasingly robust toolsets that allow them to take action even when they’re out of the office. Besides improving efficiency, a good mobile experience helps companies with their engagement efforts by keeping things simple from the employee’s point of view.

While we don’t see anything revolutionary in Kronos’s announcement, we don’t mean to minimize it. The company’s obviously paying serious attention to how people work and is evolving its products to ensure they fit.
