Ceridian Dayforce Expands Benefits Support, On-Demand Pay

Ceridian Dayforce Benefits Support

Ceridian announced enhancements to its flagship product, Dayforce. The new features are designed to improve the Dayforce cloud platform’s functionality and expand its breadth.

Among the features are Dayforce Benefits Decision Support, Dayforce Assistant and Dayforce On-Demand Pay.

Spurred on by users, “our approach has always been to simplify the work environment for our customers and their employees,” said Chief Strategy Officer Erik Zimmer. He singled out Benefits Decision Support as an important tool for the workforce’s convenience, noting that “employees need data and analytics to empower them to make smart choices.”

Guiding Benefits Choices

Ceridian said 35 percent of U.S. workers have little to no understanding of their health insurance, even though most expect their employers to provide health insurance and wellness support. Benefits Decision Support allows customers to provide employees with additional support and information as they select their coverage.

For example, it guides users to find the best-fitting plans, based on their responses to a few questions. Besides providing the obvious benefit to workers, the simplified process should save employers money and frees up time for administrators to focus on other priorities.

Ceridian noted that the launch of Benefits Decision Support follows its March 2019 acquisition of Clearview Logix, which creates creates analytics models to simplify health insurance choices. At the time, Ceridian said integrating such technology into Dayforce would strengthen and expand its benefits offering and make options easier to understand for employees.

On-Demand a Dayforce Theme

Another feature, Dayforce Assistant, allows employees to make HR and scheduling requests through a voice or chat interface. Like the other modules, it uses an organization’s policies to make sure all requests follow the rules. For example, Ceridian said, Dayforce Assistant won’t let workers request more vacation days than they’re allowed.

On-Demand Pay, which was announced in October 2018, provides companies with more choice over how and when to pay employees. With it, workers can access earned wages during the active pay cycle, rather than wait for a designated payday. To reduce administration, it provides a mechanism for automated approvals. Ceridian said it’s the first tool of its kind offered within a complete HCM solution.

The module calculates payout availability using Dayforce’s payroll and time solution. Available payouts are updated in real time whenever a time, benefits or HR record is changed.

Advance-pay products have been gaining steam since last year. In December, SHRM reported they were gaining support from payroll processors, some of whom were offering them as part of their service packages.

In March, PayActiv and Visa announced a deal to provide on-demand pay services. Through their agreement, PayActiv customers can offer real-time deposits of earned funds through a Visa debit or reloadable prepaid card.
