Simpplr Raises $70 million for Employee Experience Platform

Venture Funding

Employee experience platform Simpplr secured $70 million in Series D funding. The investment was led by Sapphire Ventures with participation from existing investor Norwest Venture Partners.

Simpplr says it’s benefitting from the trend of companies deciding the complexities of work and life require “radically different” ways to connect, engage and support employees, wherever they might be based. Simpplr says it’s used by more than 1 million people around the world.

Those same companies are prioritizing technology solutions that enhance the employee experience, according to research from Teem by iOFFICE.

Teem found that two-thirds of IT managers, HR professionals and workplace experience leaders prioritized creating a positive employee experience (69%), while 62% highlighted helping employees stay productive. Some 42% were considering technology that would support engagement.

“This is a watershed moment for companies everywhere on the importance of employee experience powered by AI and its impact on business performance,” said Dhiraj Sharma, Simpplr’s founder and CEO.

Promod Haque, managing partner at Norwest Venture Partners, said Simpplr is growing rapidly “as companies become increasingly focused on digital employee experiences.”

Internal Engagement

Simpplr’s product is essentially an internal social network that allows employees to create profiles, share content, follow users and engage in polls or surveys. Managers can create employee directories and workspaces that can be tailored to different teams and departments.

The investment will be used for hiring and product R&D, said Sharma.

In addition to the funding, Simpplr announced a number of executive hires, including: Tim Lambert as chief revenue officer, Bala Kasiviswanathan as chief product and customer experience officer, Parag Kulkarni as chief technology officer and Aykut Firat as chief data scientist.

Additional Series D investors include Tola Capital and Salesforce Ventures. This latest round brings the company total funding to over $131M to date. This new funding will be invested in future growth and innovation of the leading employee experience (EX) platform.
