Beeline to Acquire Workforce Solutions Provider Utmost

Workforce Management

Beeline, a vendor management and extended workforce platform, agreed to acquire Utmost, which provides software for workforce solutions for matters involving contingent and direct employees.

According to Staffing Industry Analysts, “both companies have evolved beyond the historic limitations of a VMS provider to include broader talent categories.” With Utmost, Beeline said it will help companies access total talent insights across their entire workforce, employees and non-employees alike.

“The future of work is powered by technology that unlocks the potential of every worker, regardless of classification,” said Beeline CEO Doug Leeby. “The Utmost acquisition is particularly exciting in that it complements and accelerates our strategic roadmap and delivers clever and unique solutions to our customers on day one.”

The industry website Spend Matters describes Utmost as a procurement and talent management vendor that is both “’worker-’ and ‘procurement-‘centric.” That combination “represents quite an evolutionary shift in the market (whilst making HR a greater stakeholder at the table, alongside procurement),” the site said.

Beeline’s vendor management system is one of the largest in the world, according to media reports.

Utmost’s technology allows customers to view, in real time and in aggregate, both employee and non-employee workforces by location and reporting structure. With its approach, the company said, customers can gain total talent insights without co-mingling data in ERPs or HCM platforms. That reduces co-employment concerns.

In addition, Utmost provides more than 1,000 pre-built connectors meant to accelerate enterprise and third-party application integrations.

Pushing Extended Workforce Management

The acquisition will also allow small and mid-size companies to tailor their management of extended workforces as well as allow enterprises and partners to customize contingent workforce management for internal divisions and new markets, Beeline said.

“Beeline shares our vision of using technology to bring extended workforce management to every level of the organization and value to every stakeholder of the contingent workforce ecosystem,” said Utmost CEO and co-founder Annrai O’Toole.

In 2021, Beeline acquired JoinedUp, a high-volume workforce solution focused on shift-based temporary labor. JoinedUp aims to address needs in order fulfillment, scheduling, availability, time entry and invoicing. At the time, Beeline said the integration would help it better serve all contingent workforce needs for its existing customers while also serving new markets.
