Jobvite Revises Algorithms in Bid to Improve TA Process

Jobvite has revised the algorithms behind its product suite in an effort to enhance search results and speed the job-search process for both recruiters and candidates.

Without offering specifics, Jobvite said its strategy incorporates multiple algorithms and data sources that reflect customers’ company-wide hiring preferences as well as those of individual recruiters.

The algorithms are designed to work across all industries, positions and recruiter preferences. They’ll be incorporated into Jobvite’s tools beginning sometime in early 2020. Overall, the company said its goal is to help recruiters find the best-fitting candidate for each role and eliminate wasted time on both sides of the table.

Algorithms Addressing Algorithms

At least in part, Jobvite’s strategy seems motivated by the unintended consequences of improved job-search and application technology. “With the technology and platforms that exist to make quick applications possible for candidates, recruiters are sorting through mountains of resumes—many of which are not great fits for the role,” said Vice President of Analytics and Machine Learning Zach Linder. When relieved of sorting tasks, he said, “recruiters can find and hire well-matched candidates faster.”

Jobvite’s new algorithms don’t neglect job seekers. They’ll “help candidates get the best potential jobs served to them based on their previous experience, interests and application history,” the company said.

Jobvite began working on the project last year with the data-science consulting firm Predictive Partner. It plans to enhance and build additional algorithms to support better candidate matching throughout the year. In addition, the companies are working on initiatives involving response optimization and engagement scoring.

In October, Jobvite used “smart automation”  to connect data, processes and interactions throughout the TA process. As part of the effort it launched two solutions—an end-to-end suite that included its ATS and the recruitment marketing platform of Talemetry, which Jobvite acquired in February 2019. The other leveraged Talemetry to augment existing ATS or HR systems.
