Reward Gateway will combine operations with Xexec, a provider of reward and recognition, employee benefits, and customer loyalty solutions. Both companies were acquired last year by the private equity firms Abry Partners and Castik Investors.

Reward Gateway said the merger will reinforce its position in the global employee engagement market.

Events over the past two years have forced employers to rethink how they attract, engage and retain employees within flexible and hybrid work environments, said Reward Gateway CEO Doug Butler. “By combining operations with Xexec, we can deliver a broader suite of innovative and expanded employee engagement solutions and resources to our clients around the globe,” he said.

Helping companies engage, motivate and retain employees, Reward Gateway says it has worked with over 2,500 organizations in 23 countries, assisting more than 5 million employees in their efforts to connect, recognize and support each other. Clients include American Express, Unilever, Samsung, IBM and McDonald’s, among others.

Meanwhile, London-based Xexec says it has doubled its customer base over the past three years.

Last year, Reward Gateway launched a platform for small businesses, targeting UK organizations with fewer than 100 employees. Available via desktop and mobile app, the product combines employee discounts, recognition tools and well-being features.

The product, Reward Gateway for Small Business, leverages the technology used by the company’s core platform for larger organizations. At the time, COO Rob Boland said the SMB product was “designed with today’s small business in mind.”

The company also launched SmartInsights, an analytics engine. Available on the SMB platform, the package provides employers with intelligence on overall engagement, recognition activity, benefit uptake and social responses. In addition to information on the workforce, the tool includes a manager results dashboard to help identify areas of possible improvement on the team, division or department level.
