ADP Plans DEI Benchmarks for DataCloud

The pandemic hasn’t suppressed the need for employers to improve their approach to diversity, equity and inclusion. Employees, candidates and customers all make it their business to examine a company’s efforts and results in DEI. That puts talent acquisition and HR teams under pressure to imagine and implement DEI programs that make a real, measurable impact on both the workforce and potential hires.

Always big believers in data, ADP will “soon” introduce DEI Benchmarks to its DataCloud people analytics solution. The new benchmarks will replace outdated, inaccurate survey data with live HR and compensation data from ADP’s workforce data set, an information set drawn from more than 920,000 companies and 30 million employees. In addition, ADP said, they’ll allow companies to compare their DEI metrics against similar companies as well as local populations through census data.

Employers “need transparency into their people data to inform the actions they take and in turn, the difference they make,” said Bob Lockett, ADP’s chief diversity and talent officer. “Approaching what is an incredibly emotionally driven issue with a mindset primed for problem-solving can help businesses better define the gaps they need to close.” Blending a scientific approach with the “art” of communication and culture-building “can drive true change and lay the foundation for a more inclusive and equitable world of work.”

Key Challenges

The company said the toolset addresses key DEI challenges for HR leaders, including surfacing diversity insights, enabling local action, creating an inclusive culture and making change stick. Capabilities work in tandem to help companies assess, plan and act to drive measurable change. These include:

  • Turnkey Story-Based Insights: Surfaces insights into DEI trends across the organization, including glass-ceiling effects and bias in recruiting funnels.
  • Proactive Recommendations and Best Practices: Identifies pay gaps based on gender, race and ethnicity and provides action plans that quantify the cost of closing them.
  • Embedded DEI Nudges: Provides managers with DEI insights within their HCM workflows.
  • Research-Based Surveys with psychometrically validated questions to evaluate DEI concepts.

This isn’t the first enhancement ADP’s made to DataCloud’s DEI capabilities. Earlier this year, the company added new tools to help businesses analyze their diversity and better allocate staff resources. DataCloud’s DEI Dashboard and Organizational Benchmarks Dashboard were designed to help employers better understand the dynamics of their workforce and actively pursue diversity goals within their business.
