SAP says organizations thrive when their people are engaged in their careers, properly skilled, aligned to the right opportunities and have a sense of belonging. However, many companies struggle to develop a holistic view of their workforce’s existing skills and capabilities.

Together with SuccessFactors Opportunity Marketplace, the new features are meant to aid employers with the intelligence and adaptability needed to help build workforces that are more skilled, agile and equitable, SAP said.

The company will provide employers with new programs to help them better understand their workforce. These include a skills ontology, growth portfolio and dynamic teams. The ontology uses AI to identify the an employee’s skills based on their role, responsibilities, experiences and accomplishments. The growth portfolio collects an employee’s attributes including their skills, strengths, work styles, passions and aspirations. The dynamic teams feature enables organizations to create, track and measure team outcomes.

SuccessFactors believes the new features will allow companies to develop a better understanding of their employees by providing talent intelligence that reflects each person as a whole, not their skills alone.

Understanding and engaging employees is imperative if organizations want to meet the emerging demands of the future of work, said Meg Bear, SuccessFactors’ president and chief product officer. “When people have the opportunity to work on what they’re passionate about, they are more engaged, perform at a higher level and push the organization to deliver outsized business results,” she said.

The update also allows users to indicate their chosen name and personal pronouns in their profile.
